THE BOYZ's New Takes on the Role of Romeo in Upcoming Musical Debut
According to his agency, One Hundred, New has been cast as Romeo in the musical 'Romeo and Juliet,' which will open on March 24 at the KEPCO Art Center in Seoul. This marks a new challenge for the artist as he steps onto the musical stage.
The musical 'Romeo and Juliet' is based on Shakespeare's iconic play and first premiered in Paris in 2001. It was a massive success, selling out for a year and attracting over 5 million viewers across Europe. The show was also performed in South Korea in 2007, drawing an audience of approximately 100,000. Now, after 19 years, it is set to be revived in Korea.
Ahead of its opening next month, a character poster featuring New as Romeo was released on the 9th, showcasing his transformation into the character. New will portray Romeo, who falls in love at first sight with Juliet at a masked ball. He will bring to life the character's dreamy nature and his emotional evolution through love with his unique expressive skills.
This production marks New's first foray into musical theater since debuting with THE BOYZ in 2017. Known for his diverse album activities and global fanbase, New is expanding his artistic reach with 'Romeo and Juliet.'
The musical 'Romeo and Juliet,' featuring New, will run from March 24 to May 31 at the KEPCO Art Center in Seoul.
