BTS Honored with Presidential Commendation at 5th Korea Good Donation Awards
On December 9, BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS's agency, announced that BTS became the first Korean artists to receive the 'Presidential Commendation' at the 5th Korea Good Donation Awards, hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and organized by the Korea Council of Charitable Organizations(한국자선단체협의회). This award ceremony, established in 2021, aims to encourage individuals and organizations that have spread hope and courage through sharing and donation activities, and to promote a mature donation culture by sharing various examples of good deeds.
BTS expressed their gratitude, stating, "We feel a great sense of fulfillment knowing that the 'LOVE MYSELF' campaign has had a positive impact on society. We believe this award is not just for us, but a recognition and encouragement for everyone who resonated with the message of 'loving oneself and loving the world' that we spread through the campaign. We especially want to dedicate this honor to ARMY, our fans, who have been part of this journey. We will continue to strive to contribute to warm and healthy changes."
In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop artists to partner with UNICEF Korea and launched the 'LOVE MYSELF' campaign. Through this initiative, they have worked to prevent violence and provide psychological support to children and adolescents in 155 countries and regions.
Additionally, they have extended their global outreach by providing mental health programs to over 100 million people. BTS and Big Hit Music have become the largest private partners in UNICEF's global child protection efforts, raising approximately 9.2 billion won with their fans, which accounts for about 15% of the protection fund, according to the agency.
Meanwhile, BTS has announced a new album release and a large-scale world tour next spring, preparing to reunite with fans worldwide.
