Park Bo-gum Pays Tribute to Hong Kong Tragedy at 2025 MAMA Awards
Park Bo-gum, wearing a black mourning ribbon, took the stage as the host and began by saying, "'MAMA' is greeting you from Hong Kong for the first time in seven years. Many have been waiting for this day." He continued, "There was a tragic accident. I deeply express my condolences to all who lost precious lives, beloved family, and friends in this incident. I sincerely hope there will be no further damage and would like to take a moment of silence." Park then bowed his head in a moment of silence.
On the afternoon of the 26th (local time), a massive fire broke out in a high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po area of northern Hong Kong. The fire resulted in 94 deaths, over 50 injuries, and around 200 people missing. The 'MAMA' team released an official statement saying, "The '2025 MAMA AWARDS' aims to share the sorrow and provide a time for remembrance by adding the 'Support Hong Kong' message, and will contribute through donations to support the victims. We believe in the healing and unifying power of music."
