K-Pop Industry Bands Together for Hong Kong Fire Relief Efforts
The entertainment industry is rallying to support victims of the tragic Hong Kong fire.

On the 28th, HYBE Music Group APAC, which includes labels such as Big Hit Music, Belift Lab, Source Music, Pledis Entertainment, KOZ Entertainment, and ADOR, donated 2.66 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 500 million Korean won). HYBE Music Group APAC expressed their condolences, stating, "We extend our deepest sympathies to those who lost their lives in the Hong Kong fire accident. We offer heartfelt comfort to everyone experiencing shock and sorrow from this sudden tragedy and hope for a swift recovery and return to normalcy for the community."

SM Entertainment announced a donation of 1 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 190 million Korean won) to the Red Cross Society of China Hong Kong Branch. The funds will be used for firefighting, relief efforts, and providing essential supplies. SM conveyed, "Let's unite to overcome these challenges together."

JYP Entertainment also joined the relief efforts, donating 2 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 377 million Korean won) through Hong Kong World Vision. The donation will aid in providing temporary shelter and psychological support for affected children and residents. JYP expressed, "We extend our deepest condolences and comfort to all who lost loved ones and homes in the tragic Hong Kong fire. We hope that small acts of warmth across mountains and seas will become a beacon of light. We sincerely wish for the affected residents to find peace and overcome these difficulties swiftly."

YG Entertainment participated in the donation drive as well. YG announced on their official Weibo account, "We express our deepest condolences to all the victims and our gratitude and respect to everyone leading the rescue efforts in these challenging circumstances," donating 1 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately 170 million Korean won).

On the afternoon of the 26th (local time), a massive fire broke out in a high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po area of northern Hong Kong. The fire resulted in 94 deaths, over 50 injuries, and more than 200 missing persons. As the mourning atmosphere spreads, there were discussions about canceling or postponing the '2025 MAMA Awards' scheduled to be held in Hong Kong, but it has been confirmed to proceed as planned. The '2025 MAMA Awards' organizers stated, "We are preparing with caution to ensure the performance conveys comfort and hope rather than extravagant displays."
