Hong Kong Fire Tragedy Casts Doubt on '2025 MAMA Awards' Event
A devastating fire in Hong Kong has raised concerns about the upcoming '2025 MAMA Awards'.

On the afternoon of the 26th, a massive fire broke out in a high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po area of northern Hong Kong. The blaze has resulted in at least 44 fatalities, with 45 individuals critically injured and 279 reported missing. Hong Kong authorities have escalated the fire alert to the highest level, category 5.

The apartment complex affected by the fire is located approximately 20 kilometers from the Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium, the venue for the '2025 MAMA Awards', a distance that takes about 20 minutes to cover by car. This proximity has led to discussions about the potential cancellation or postponement of the event.

As of the morning of the 27th, just a day before the '2025 MAMA Awards', several K-pop artists, including Stray Kids, IVE, RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, KORTIS, All Day Project, and BOYNEXTDOOR, have already arrived in Hong Kong. The organizers of the '2025 MAMA' are reportedly deliberating on how to proceed.

The '2025 MAMA Awards' are scheduled to take place over two days, on the 28th and 29th, at the Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium. The event will be broadcast live on various digital platforms, including Mnet Plus.
