ADOR Takes Strong Legal Action Against Infringement of NewJeans' Rights
On the 17th, ADOR provided an update on their legal actions regarding the infringement of artists' rights through the fan communication platform Weverse.
ADOR stated, "Since NewJeans' debut, we have been continuously monitoring domestic and international online communities, music sites, and social media channels. We have been promptly requesting the removal of posts that infringe on the artists' rights and taking strict legal action. We are also taking a strong stance against overseas-based sites without exception."
They further explained, "Recently, we have observed an increase in malicious fake news, privacy violations, and the use of derogatory language against the artists. In response, we have increased our personnel to focus on gathering evidence. We plan to file criminal complaints against those who have posted malicious content on sites such as Naver News, dcinside, instiz, Nate Pann, MLBPARK, and theqoo within this month. Additionally, we will pursue further legal actions based on additional evidence gathered."
ADOR is also taking a firm stance against deepfake crimes. They stated, "Recently, there have been requests for settlements from deepfake perpetrators, but we have rejected them and communicated our intent for strict punishment to the investigative authorities. Furthermore, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement to eradicate deepfake crimes against our artists."
Meanwhile, NewJeans had previously announced the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR last November due to a breach of contract. However, the court ruled that the contract between ADOR and NewJeans remains valid. On the 12th, just a day before the appeal period ended, NewJeans announced their decision to return to ADOR.
During this process, members Haerin and Hyein expressed their intention to return through discussions with their families. ADOR stated, "We respect the court's decision and have decided to adhere to the exclusive contract. We will do our utmost to ensure that Haerin and Hyein can continue their entertainment activities smoothly. We kindly ask for restraint from speculation about the members." However, Minji, Hani, and Danielle have issued separate statements through their legal representatives, and ADOR is "confirming their intentions." ADOR is coordinating schedules to meet with the three members.
