EXO's CHEN Releases Fifth Mini Album 'Arcadia': A Journey to Paradise

EXO member and solo artist CHEN has released his fifth mini album, 'Arcadia'.

Released on the 29th, CHEN's new album captures a journey from mundane and familiar routines to reaching a paradise. The album features the title track 'Arcadia' and 'Help Me (Somebody 2 Love)', both of which CHEN contributed lyrics to, along with a diverse array of songs, completing a rich five-track list.

In this album, CHEN expands his musical world by blending his unique antique vocal style with trendy band sounds. As this new release embodies change, anticipation builds for his future endeavors.

Below is a Q&A with CHEN.

Q. This is your fifth mini album as a solo artist. How do you feel?
- I'm grateful to release another album and want to thank everyone who has waited for it. Thanks to all the support and love, my album could come out into the world again. I prepared it with joy, eager to share it with you all, and I hope you enjoy it!

Q. The new album 'Arcadia' is said to depict a journey to an ideal place, a paradise. Could you introduce the album and share the message you want to convey?
- This album is crafted with a different concept from my previous solo albums. I wanted to try something new, and I think these changes and challenges are part of reaching what I consider 'Arcadia'.

Q. The title track is also named 'Arcadia'. Could you give a brief introduction to the song and highlight any standout parts?
- I interpreted 'Arcadia' not as a specific place but as various goals we set in our daily lives. Just like achieving one goal leads to setting another, the song narrates the process of reaching the dreams we've envisioned. The song's charm lies in maintaining tension while leading with energetic vocals, with the part before the chorus being the highlight.

Q. The rock genre title track 'Arcadia' impressively blends your emotions with band sounds. Why did you choose 'Arcadia' as the title?
- While contemplating ways to showcase another strength beyond ballads, I thought about energetic vocals. It took some time to find the right song, but through many processes, 'Arcadia' was born.

Q. If you could describe this album in one word, what would it be and why?
- Change. I think it's the word that best fits this album, as it represents breaking away from existing molds and taking on new challenges in line with my evolving thoughts.

Q. The album contains five tracks. Besides the title track, which song would you recommend the most?
- While all the songs are precious and dear to me, if you're driving, I'd definitely recommend 'Help Me (Somebody 2 Love)'.

Q. Your name is also on the album credits. Are there any memorable episodes or lyrics from the process? What was your main focus during the creation?
- I'm truly grateful that my lyrics are included in the title track 'Arcadia' and 'Help Me (Somebody 2 Love)'. Since it was a new genre for me, I completed the lyrics with more revisions than usual. The memorable lyric for me is '계속해서 난 Run away to Arcadia' from the title track, as it encapsulates the essence of the song.

Q. You're also preparing a concert with the same name as the album. As it's your first solo concert in Korea, it must be special. Could you share your thoughts on the performance and a message for fans waiting for the album?
- I previously had a solo tour in Japan, which was such a happy and enjoyable memory, so I'm eager to enjoy it with fans again. This concert will be with a live band, and I think the point is to sing and enjoy together. Until then, I'll take care of my health and prepare well so you can enjoy it. I hope you join us, and please show lots of love for the album 'Arcadia'.
