J.Y. Park, the renowned singer and producer, as well as the head of JYP Entertainment, has been appointed as the co-chair of the Presidential Committee on Cultural Exchange by President Lee Jae-myung.

On the 9th, Kang Hoon-sik, the Chief Secretary of the Presidential Office, announced that J.Y. Park will serve as the co-chair alongside Choi Hwi-young, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. This newly established committee will focus on the international expansion and exchange of Korean popular culture.

J.Y. Park is recognized as a pioneer in the globalization of K-pop. Kang described him as "the person who first introduced K-pop to the American market, making him an ideal candidate to enhance the global status of Korean popular culture."

As the founder of JYP Entertainment, J.Y. Park is considered one of the trailblazers of the K-pop industry. He debuted as a solo artist in 1994 and gained popularity with numerous hit songs. He has discovered and nurtured many artists, including Park Ji-yoon, Rain, Wonder Girls, 2PM, GOT7, TWICE, ITZY, and NMIXX.

Notably, he achieved a milestone by leading Wonder Girls to become the first K-pop group to enter the Billboard charts. He also played a significant role in the growth of groups like TWICE and Stray Kids, leaving a lasting impact on the globalization of K-pop. In addition to his exceptional producing skills, he continues to perform on stage, maintaining his presence as an artist.
