Rising Stars in K-Pop: From Cha Woong-ki to Youngseo, New Beginnings Shine Bright

After numerous attempts, several stars are finding their rightful places in the spotlight. From Youngseo of All Day Project to Cha Woong-ki of AHOF, these artists are shining brightly in their new roles.

Cha Woong-ki of the group AHOF has once again made his mark in the music industry. AHOF, a boy group formed through the SBS survival audition program 'Universe League,' released their debut album 'WHO WE ARE' on the 1st of this month. Cha Woong-ki initially debuted with the group TO1 in 2020 but did not achieve significant success. He later appeared on Mnet's survival audition program 'Boys Planet,' where he made a strong impression but unfortunately did not make it to debut.

After several challenges, Cha Woong-ki was selected as a final debut member in the SBS survival program 'Universe League.' Successfully re-debuting, he utilized his experiences to contribute to the lyrics of AHOF's debut song. At the showcase for their debut album on the 1st, Cha Woong-ki candidly shared, "I really wanted the opportunity to write lyrics, so I kept asking for it." He added, "Since 'Universe League,' I told the producer that I wanted to be an artist who conveys my message through songs. The producer agreed, and I got the chance." The title track 'Rendezvous,' which Cha Woong-ki co-wrote, topped the Bugs TOP 100 real-time chart immediately after its release.

Youngseo, who was selected as a final debut member of the group I-LIT, debuted last month as a member of the co-ed group All Day Project under The Black Label. Youngseo participated in the 2023 program 'Are You Next?' that created I-LIT, finishing in second place. However, she unexpectedly terminated her contract with Belift Lab, drawing attention. She then joined The Black Label, led by Teddy. Unlike the lovable and bubbly image of I-LIT, All Day Project has a more urban and chic vibe, which many believe suits Youngseo better. The double title track 'FAMOUS' from All Day Project entered the Billboard 'Global 200' chart at number 94.

Youngseo decided to join The Black Label without knowing much about the team. On the web variety show 'Jipdaeseong,' she shared, "When I joined the company, they said 'let's work together,' but couldn't reveal the team due to security reasons. They did say it wasn't a girl group, so I wondered if it was an AI singer. It was confusing, but they said there was a very cool team, and it would be complete with me, so I trusted them and joined." Her determination to debut is evident.

Moon Chanel of the group FIFTY FIFTY is also a product of 'Are You Next?' Although she didn't debut at the time, she later debuted with FIFTY FIFTY. Her boy group version of the 'Pookie' challenge from their new song has gained popularity on social media. Fans appreciate her ability to capture the essence of boy group dance moves and expressions. As the main vocalist of the group, she has also showcased her dance skills through the 'boy group challenge.' Moon Chanel displayed her variety show talents on JTBC's 'Knowing Foreign Language High School,' which ended last March. She is making her presence known as a versatile member excelling in singing, dancing, and variety shows.

Umuti of the group X-Love also debuted through various audition programs. He consistently appeared on survival programs like MBC's 'Under Nineteen,' Mnet's 'Build Up,' and 'Boys Planet,' pursuing his dream of becoming a K-pop idol. He also participated in the China-Korea joint project 'Super Idol' seasons 1 and 2. As a result of his perseverance, he debuted with the boy group X-Love last January and is showcasing his talents by participating in the production of the group's new songs. X-Love is establishing its unique identity as a genderless group.
