Jessi Makes a Powerful Comeback with 'Newsflash' Amidst Past Controversy

On the afternoon of the 27th, Jessi released her new digital single 'Newsflash' on global music platforms and unveiled the music video on her official YouTube channel.
'Newsflash' marks Jessi's first release under her independent label, UNNI COMPANY. After a year-long hiatus, she returns to the stage with a hip-hop track that unfolds her journey as a 'newsflash' concept. The song features confident rapping and a sincere narrative, showcasing Jessi's signature powerful and bold rap, deep vocals, trendy beats, and intense rhythm, creating an addictive charm.

The new song conveys Jessi's autobiographical message of longing for the stage, responding to surrounding prejudices, and her enduring passion for music. The music video portrays Jessi's strong inner self as an artist living under the spotlight and media attention, with lyrics like "the spotlight's on me" and "I'm makin' headlines."
Additionally, lines such as "Don't believe all the hype" and "I don't read what they type" strongly convey Jessi's attitude and pride in walking her own path without wavering. Lyrics like "I'm making headlines" also stand out.
Previously, Jessi was involved in a controversy regarding a fan assault. According to police, in the early hours of September 29 last year, a minor fan requested a photo with Jessi in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, and was assaulted by a male in Jessi's entourage. Jessi was investigated in relation to this incident, and authorities concluded there was no evidence of wrongdoing, clearing her of charges.
Jessi's new single 'Newsflash' and its music video were released at 1 PM on the same day.
