Court Confirms Ban on Independent Activities for NewJeans Members
The court has confirmed a provisional injunction preventing members of the K-pop group NewJeans from engaging in independent activities.

According to legal sources on the 25th, the five members of NewJeans did not file an appeal by midnight the previous day against the appellate court's decision to uphold the injunction prohibiting them from preserving their agency status and entering into advertising contracts independently.

An appeal must be filed within a week of receiving the decision. As NewJeans did not appeal within the deadline, the injunction became final at midnight on the 25th.

Previously, on the 17th, the Seoul High Court's Civil Division 25-2 dismissed NewJeans members' objection to the injunction that prohibited them from preserving their agency status and entering into advertising contracts.

Last November, NewJeans members claimed that their exclusive contract with Ador, a label under HYBE, was terminated due to a breach of contract and began independent activities. In response, Ador filed for an injunction in January to prevent NewJeans from independently signing advertising contracts.

The Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 accepted Ador's application in full last March. NewJeans subsequently filed objections and appeals, but both were dismissed in April and in the recent high court ruling.

Additionally, last month, the court accepted Ador's application for indirect enforcement, ordering each member to pay 1 billion KRW to Ador for each violation of the injunction.

During a hearing on the 4th, the court asked NewJeans about the possibility of a settlement, but their legal representative stated, "The trust relationship has already broken down beyond repair."

Currently, the main lawsuit filed by Ador to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract is ongoing in the first trial.
