Meanwhile, Jessi was embroiled in controversy last October related to an assault incident involving an acquaintance. Allegations surfaced that Jessi, who was present, did not intervene. During a police investigation, Jessi was booked on assault charges and initially claimed no involvement with the perpetrator. However, it was later revealed that she had a personal connection with the assailant, leading to public criticism.

Jessi expressed regret, stating, "I wish I could go back to that time," and apologized. She subsequently terminated her contract with DOD Entertainment. The Seoul Gangnam Police Department cleared Jessi of charges related to harboring or aiding the perpetrator. Since then, Jessi has focused on her international activities.
