Court Orders NewJeans to Pay $1 Million for Each Unauthorized Activity
The popular K-pop girl group NewJeans faces significant restrictions on their independent activities following a recent court ruling. The court has mandated that NewJeans pay a penalty of 1 billion KRW (approximately $1 million USD) for each unauthorized activity they engage in.

On the 29th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Agreement Division 52, led by Chief Judge Heo Kyung-moo, ruled in favor of ADOR's indirect enforcement application against NewJeans. The court's decision prohibits NewJeans from engaging in any entertainment activities without prior approval or consent from ADOR until the first trial verdict of the exclusive contract validity confirmation lawsuit.

The court stated, "NewJeans must not engage in entertainment activities without ADOR's prior approval or consent until the first trial verdict of the exclusive contract validity confirmation lawsuit. If violated, they must pay 1 billion KRW for each breach to ADOR."

Previously, on March 21, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50, presided over by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, ruled in favor of ADOR in the 'Prohibition of Agency Status Preservation and Advertising Contract Conclusion' case against NewJeans members. The court decided that NewJeans should not engage in independent activities. Despite the group's appeal against the court's injunction decision, their objection was dismissed, reaffirming the court's stance against their independent activities.
