BTS's RM Makes History at the American Music Awards with Solo Win

According to the American Music Awards' official website on the 26th (local time), RM was named the winner in the 'Favorite K-Pop Artist' category this year. This achievement makes RM the only K-pop artist to win an American Music Award both as a group member and as a solo artist.
BTS previously dominated the 2021 ceremony, winning 'Artist of the Year,' 'Favorite Pop Duo/Group,' and 'Favorite Pop Song.' In 2022, they continued their success by winning 'Favorite Pop Duo/Group' and 'Favorite K-Pop Artist,' securing two awards.
RM's solo second album, 'Right Place, Wrong Person,' released in May last year, received critical acclaim from both the public and critics. The album was selected as one of the 'Best Albums of 2024' by major international media outlets such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, and NME. Several tracks from the album were also included in the 'Best Songs of 2024' lists, garnering significant attention.
Particularly, RM was praised for his artistry and originality with the album's title track 'LOST!' The British music magazine NME described 'Right Place, Wrong Person' as a "beautiful and intriguing artistic work," awarding it a perfect score of 5 out of 5. Grammy.com also lauded RM's versatility and creative abilities, praising the album's overall quality.
The music video for 'LOST!' recently swept three categories at the '2025 Shark Music Video Awards' in the UK, winning 'Best Music Video,' 'Best R&B/Soul Video,' and 'Best Direction.' Previously, the music video also won multiple awards at the UK Music Video Awards, the German Ciclope Festival, and the Berlin Commercial Awards.
RM is set to complete his military service in June.
