NewJeans Challenges Court's Injunction Decision in Private Hearing
The South Korean girl group NewJeans is set to challenge a court injunction in a private hearing.

On the afternoon of the 9th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50, presided over by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, will hold a hearing for the objection filed by the five members of NewJeans. This follows the court's previous acceptance of ADOR's injunction request to 'preserve agency status and prohibit advertising contract agreements,' which NewJeans is contesting. Unlike the previous public hearing, this session will be held privately.

The focus of this hearing will be whether NewJeans can present new evidence to support their case and potentially overturn the court's decision.

Last month, on the 21st, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 fully accepted ADOR's request against NewJeans regarding 'preserving agency status and prohibiting advertising contract agreements.' NewJeans had claimed their contract with ADOR was terminated in November last year and announced plans for independent activities, which have now been halted by the court's decision.

In response to the court's ruling, the five members of NewJeans promptly filed an objection. They have since defended their actions in international media, stating, "Our actions are justified." In an interview with TIME magazine on the 22nd of last month, they expressed disappointment, saying, "It seems Korea wants to make us revolutionaries." On the 26th, they denied rumors of Min Hee-jin's involvement in an interview with BBC News Korea's official YouTube channel.

On the 23rd of last month, NewJeans announced a "temporary suspension of activities" during their performance at Hong Kong's 'ComplexCon' and have since remained out of the public eye. They also shut down their social media channel, previously named NJZ, and rebranded it with the initials MHDHH, derived from the members' names. The PR channel, claiming to represent the parents of the five members, also changed its name to MHDHH.
