Roy Kim Returns with New Single 'Just As You Are', Embracing Imperfection and Romantic Beliefs

On the 31st of last month, Roy Kim held a music talk show to celebrate the release of his single 'Just As You Are', where he shared various stories about his new song and past hits.
During the event, Roy Kim introduced his new song, saying, "It's been a while since I've returned with a new song in spring," and described it as "a band song different from the ballads I've presented so far." He added, "I worked on every process with band members who have been on stage with me for about 10 years. Since we've been in sync for so long, they produced the sound I love without me having to say anything. It's the best sound I've ever worked on."
Roy Kim explained, "'Just As You Are' is a song I wrote and composed myself," and added, "We live in a world that is neither perfect nor complete, just as the title suggests." He continued, "I hope people don't struggle with the contradiction of perfection created by such a world, and don't blame others. If we love someone 'just as they are', there would be no fights, wars, or painful breakups, so I wrote the lyrics beautifully."
He further shared, "I have some married friends around me. Some of them said after listening to my song, 'Love doesn't flow so ideally in reality.' However, no matter how tough reality is, we should strive for something beyond it. Living without romance is too sad," expressing his belief in love. He added, "Believing in romance might make reality less painful. I still want to follow romance."

He said, "When asked what I would do if the song does well, I said, 'I'll perform shirtless at a festival.' Some might not want to see me shirtless, but my fans love it," he laughed. He also shared, "Many requested me to remove my beard, but thinking about it being gone made me feel too regretful. I couldn't do that."
Roy Kim added, "I wasn't even thinking about the song's performance, but people around me said it was good, and fans kept getting excited, so I had no choice but to make a promise. I'm cutely working out, hoping that good things will happen if I'm prepared in my heart."

Regarding the background of his style transformation, Roy Kim stated, "I was confident that the song matched spring, so I wanted to try a brighter and more diverse mood." He added, "Fans liked it, so I felt good. When I'm in a good mood, I tend to overdo it. Fans are enjoying the different stage style, so I'm excitedly performing."

While attempting a musical transformation, Roy Kim also confessed that there are limits to the extent of change. He said, "I want to try songs that talk about society like hip-hop and songs that contain raw, honest emotions." He continued, "But I'm worried about the sense of alienation that comes when wearing clothes that don't fit me. If I suddenly present music I've never shown before, listeners who have liked me so far might drift away."
He concluded, "There might be less freedom, but the thrill of success after considering all those concerns is even greater." He added, "Change should come naturally to be impressive. I want to be like that musically and as a person."
Roy Kim's 'Just As You Are' is a modern rock genre song characterized by a lively band sound. Having previously showcased ballad and folk-centered music, Roy Kim attempted a musical transformation with this single. He wrote and composed the song himself, conveying the message, "I will love you to the end, no matter what you look like."
Roy Kim's single 'Just As You Are' will be released on various music sites at 6 PM on the 2nd.
