The K-pop group NewJeans has declared a legal battle against online trolls.

On the 24th, Sejong, the legal representative for NewJeans, released an official statement saying, "We are the legal representatives for Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein." They emphasized that "the spread of false information and malicious, defamatory posts about our clients, some of whom are minors, has reached a critical level."

The statement continued, "We are continuously monitoring all online communities and social media platforms, including TheQoo, Instiz, Blind, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, DC Inside, FM Korea, and Daum Cafe."

Furthermore, they stated, "We are working with relevant authorities to identify the authors of anonymous posts and comments, and we plan to take all possible civil and criminal actions against the spread of false information, defamation, and insults." They also provided information on how to report such malicious content.

Meanwhile, according to legal sources, the five members of NewJeans filed an objection to a court's provisional decision on the 21st. The court had accepted ADOR's request for an injunction to prevent NewJeans from engaging in independent activities, including signing advertising contracts. The group immediately appealed the decision. If an injunction is dismissed, the involved party can appeal the decision.

NewJeans had claimed that their contract with ADOR was terminated last November and announced plans for independent activities. However, the court's recent decision has halted these plans, preventing them from independently engaging in music activities such as songwriting, composing, performing, and singing, as well as commercial activities like TV appearances, events, and advertising contracts.
