Korean Music Content Association Calls for Clarity Amid Tampering Allegations Involving Min Hee-jin and NewJeans
The Korean Music Content Association (KMCA) has issued a strong statement regarding Min Hee-jin and the group NewJeans.
On the 13th, KMCA released an official statement addressing the tampering allegations, urging Min Hee-jin, NewJeans, and relevant government officials to take action.
KMCA stated, "We request Min Hee-jin to clarify her position and the facts regarding the tampering allegations reported by a media outlet. It is crucial for Min Hee-jin, a direct party in this incident, to provide a clear response to end the ongoing controversy." The association also urged NewJeans to fulfill their contractual obligations and engage in sincere discussions with their agency. If no agreement is reached, they should await the judiciary's decision. KMCA emphasized that NewJeans is not the only entity in the music industry, highlighting the efforts of other artists and industry professionals.
Furthermore, KMCA strongly recommended legislative and governmental improvements to prevent tampering. They noted that the current legal framework is insufficient to address the unique challenges of the music industry.
KMCA also mentioned that they are considering excluding the sales data of albums and music from agencies and artists involved in tampering allegations from the Circle Chart. This exclusion could extend to music programs and major music awards in Korea.
The association concluded by emphasizing the need for responsible behavior from all parties involved, urging them to cooperate with investigations and contribute to the healthy development of the music industry.
The KMCA remains committed to collaborating with stakeholders to find solutions for the industry's sustainable growth.
Conflicts can arise in any industry, but emotional and wasteful conflict resolution methods can be detrimental to all parties involved. The KMCA hopes for a wise resolution through mutual consideration and communication.
