BigHit Music Appoints Sunjeong Shin as New CEO, Aiming for Global Expansion
BigHit Music announced on the 26th that Sunjeong Shin has been appointed as the new CEO.
Sunjeong Shin joined BigHit Entertainment, the predecessor of HYBE, in 2010 and played a significant role in the rise and early success of global sensation BTS. She has notably led the Training & Development (T&D) division at HYBE, overseeing the selection and training of trainees tailored to each label's unique characteristics, thus enhancing the new artist development system. Artists who have debuted through the T&D program include BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, and &TEAM.
Recognized for her contributions, Shin was named in Billboard's '2022 40 Under 40', which highlights young leaders under 40 driving the global music industry, and in the 'MULTI SECTOR' category of Billboard's '2023 Women in Music', which honors influential women artists, creators, producers, and executives.
With Shin's appointment, BigHit Music is expected to strengthen its sustainable growth and competitiveness in the global music market. She plans to leverage her extensive industry experience and expertise to stabilize and enhance the label's operational systems and lead new business expansions.
Meanwhile, Shin Young-jae, who has led BigHit Music for the past four years since 2020, will now focus on his role as the inaugural CEO of HYBE MUSIC GROUP APAC, overseeing domestic and Japanese multi-label operations. Established in August as part of HYBE's new growth strategy 'HYBE 2.0', HYBE MUSIC GROUP APAC aims to strengthen strategies and processes necessary for label business growth and innovation, invest in resources, and enhance music service functions.
