ILLIT Nominated for Billboard Music Awards Just 8 Months After Debut
K-pop group ILLIT has been nominated for the prestigious 'Billboard Music Awards' just eight months after their debut.

According to the list of finalists announced by the '2024 Billboard Music Awards' (BBMAs) on the 25th (local time), ILLIT's mini-album title track 'Magnetic' has been nominated in the 'Top Global K-pop Song' category. The group consists of members YoonA, Minju, Moka Wonhee, and Iroha.

The BBMAs are considered one of the top four major music awards in the United States, alongside the 'Grammy Awards', 'American Music Awards', and 'MTV VMAs'. Nominees are selected based on Billboard chart performance over the past 12 months, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social engagement.

ILLIT, who debuted in March this year, has made history on the Billboard charts. Their song 'Magnetic' became the first K-pop debut track to enter the main song chart 'Hot 100' on April 20th and has remained on the Global Song Chart for 34 consecutive weeks, continuing to receive love from fans worldwide.

Additionally, their mini-album 'SUPER REAL ME' achieved the feat of entering the main album chart 'Billboard 200' on May 11th. By placing both their debut album and debut song on Billboard's two main charts, ILLIT has firmly established themselves as a 'super rookie'.

ILLIT's remarkable presence at international music awards within less than a year of debut is noteworthy. The group was also nominated for the 'Best Asia Act' category at the '2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA)'. 'Magnetic' not only entered the Billboard 'Hot 100' but also became the first K-pop group debut song to enter the UK's 'Official Singles Top 100' on April 5th, staying on the chart for three consecutive weeks.

Furthermore, ILLIT won the Rookie of the Year award at both the 'Japan Record Awards' and the '2024 MAMA AWARDS'. Notably, it was the first time in 13 years that a K-pop girl group received the Rookie of the Year award at the Japan Record Awards.
