On October 8th, the '2024 MTV Europe Music Awards' announced that BTS's Jimin and Jungkook have been selected as nominees for the 'Best K-Pop' category. BTS has been the most awarded artist in this category since its inception in 2019. This year, the nomination holds special significance as Jimin and Jungkook have been nominated as solo artists.
Jungkook previously won two awards at the '2023 MTV Europe Music Awards'. He clinched the 'Best Song' award with his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)', surpassing artists like Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. He was also named 'Best K-Pop' artist that year.
Both artists continue to achieve long-term success on the U.S. Billboard charts. According to the latest chart released by Billboard on October 12th, Jimin's solo album 'MUSE' and its title track 'Who' climbed four spots to rank 26th on the main song chart 'Hot 100'. The album 'MUSE' ranked 103rd on the main album chart 'Billboard 200'. Jungkook's 'Seven (feat. Latto)' ranked 81st on the 'Global 200', and the title track 'Standing Next to You' from his solo album 'GOLDEN' ranked 161st. 'Seven (feat. Latto)' and 'Standing Next to You' also placed 45th and 100th, respectively, on the 'Global (excluding U.S.)' chart.
The track 'Neva Play (feat. RM)' by rapper Megan Thee Stallion, featuring RM, has maintained its position on the charts for four consecutive weeks. It ranked 194th on the 'Global 200' and 193rd on the 'Global (excluding U.S.)' chart.
