LE SSERAFIM Makes History with Consecutive Entries on Billboard Hot 100
K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM has made a significant mark in the U.S. music market by securing consecutive entries on the Billboard 'Hot 100'.
On the 9th (local time), Billboard, the American music industry authority, announced via its official social media channels that LE SSERAFIM's (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) mini 4th album title track 'CRAZY' has ranked 76th on the main song chart 'Hot 100'. This is the highest ranking for a K-pop girl group song released this year.
This year, only two K-pop girl groups, including LE SSERAFIM, have charted on the Billboard 'Hot 100'. LE SSERAFIM is the only group to have more than one song enter the chart, highlighting the difficulty of achieving such a feat. The 'Hot 100' ranks songs based on physical singles, digital downloads, streaming numbers, radio airplay scores, and YouTube views, making chart entry a direct indicator of a group's presence in the U.S. market. LE SSERAFIM has proven that their success in the U.S. market is not a one-time event but a result of continuous growth.
Looking at LE SSERAFIM's Billboard performance, their song 'Perfect Night', released in October last year, ranked 19th on the 'Bubbling Under Hot 100' (as of November 18, 2023), which lists songs that did not make it to the 'Hot 100'. This year, they have entered the 'Hot 100' twice consecutively. 'EASY', released in February, ranked 99th on the 'Hot 100' (as of March 9), and 'CRAZY', released last month, ranked 76th.
'CRAZY' also set a new weekly streaming record for the group on Spotify's 'Weekly Top Songs USA', one of the main sources for Billboard 'Hot 100' calculations, with over 3.36 million plays in a week. This is a more than 16% increase compared to the previous record of 2.89 million plays set by 'EASY'. Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM will perform at the '2024 MTV Video Music Awards' Pre-Show stage at UBS Arena in New York on the 11th at 6:30 PM (7:30 AM on the 12th in Korea).
