According to Ten Asia coverage on the 1st, YG Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as YG) decided to transfer its trademark rights to 'G-Dragon', 'GD', and 'GD' to G-Dragon. It is said that YG made this decision because G-Dragon is a very symbolic artist, and the name 'G-Dragon' itself embodies his identity.

In relation to this, a YG official told Ten Asia, "The trademark rights for G-Dragon and GD have been transferred to this artist." G-Dragon's agency, Galaxy Corporation, also explained, "We understand that the trademark rights to 'G-Dragon' have been transferred to him," adding, "There is absolutely no problem with using the name G-Dragon to promote." As trademark rights are generally recognized as important intellectual property rights (IP), YG's decision is expected to be recorded as an important case in the industry.
G-Dragon debuted with the group Big Bang in 2006 and is a person who set a milestone in K-pop history. Through Big Bang and solo activities, he captivated the global fandom with his independently written and composed hit songs and performances. He is a person who has established himself as an icon of fashion, culture and art beyond the realm of a singer.
As Big Bang's activities cannot continue, he is preparing for a solo career. In December 2023, his 23-year association with YG will come to an end and he will now be working at Galaxy Corporation. A comeback in the second half of the year has been made official.
