Aespa is the only K-pop group selected as the New York Times' Best Song of 2023
Aespa's 'Better Things' is a hot topic as it was selected as song of the year.

The New York Times recently announced 'Best Songs of 2023' on its official website, and Espa was the only K-pop artist listed.

The New York Times said, “‘Better Things’, which breaks away from the existing K-pop sound, is full of cowbell, hand clapping, and piano chords that lead the song, and the continuous vocal harmony is impressive without regret.”

In addition to Aespa, this list also includes world-renowned musicians such as Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Lana Del Rey, and Dolly Parton.

'Better Things', released last August, is a minimalist up-tempo dance song with refreshing, rhythmic percussion sounds and unique rhythm patterns. The lyrics contain a positive message about focusing the given time on more valuable things. The bright chords, melody, and Aespa's rich vocals made it stand out, making it very popular.

Meanwhile, Aespa was recently selected as one of the '25 most influential women of 2023' by the UK's Financial Times (FT).
