IU is angry, “Slanderers will be held accountable”
Singer IU's agency EDAM Entertainment announced an official statement regarding the plagiarism allegations.

On the 12th, the agency EDAM Entertainment announced, “After reports of a violation of copyright law related to suspicions of plagiarism on the 10th, we appointed a law firm specializing in copyright to confirm the contents of the complaint.”

The agency said, “Based on what we have confirmed so far through investigative agencies and media reports, the accuser is not raising suspicions of plagiarism against the composers, but only against IU,” adding, “Even in a situation where some composers claim that it is not plagiarism, copyright and “It can be seen that the reason an unrelated third party unreasonably reported singer IU was solely to tarnish the artist’s image,” he said.

He continued, “I believe that the investigative agency will make a quick and wise decision regarding the clearly false accusation,” and added, “Depending on the results, the accuser who made the indiscriminate accusation will also be held accountable.”

As suspicions of plagiarism against IU spread rapidly online in the form of fake news, composer Lee Min-soo, who composed IU's 'Good Day' and 'Pink Shoes', and Lee Jong-hoon, who composed 'Pipi', posted the news on their social media. He directly refuted that he did not plagiarize any of the songs. In addition, producer Choi Gap-won, who wrote and co-composed IU's 'Pity', also said in an interview that it was not plagiarism.

Meanwhile, EDAM Entertainment warned that it would respond strongly to indiscriminate accusations against IU.

Below is EDAM Entertainment’s full statement.

hello. This is EDAM Entertainment.

First, we would like to express our deepest apologies for causing concern to our fans.

For several months, our company has been responding to those who have been continuously making suspicions of plagiarism, groundless espionage rumors, and sexual slurs against our artists by monitoring and requesting investigations for several months. Then, I was shocked beyond being absurd to learn that some of them had accused me of plagiarism.

After reports of a violation of copyright law related to suspicions of plagiarism were reported on the 10th, a law firm specializing in copyright was appointed to verify the contents of the complaint. Summarizing what has been confirmed through investigative agencies and media reports to date, the accuser is not raising suspicions of plagiarism against the composers, but only against IU. Even in a situation where some composers claim that it is not plagiarism, it can be seen that the fact that a third party, who has nothing to do with copyright, unreasonably reported only singer IU was intended to tarnish the artist's image.

We believe that the investigative agency will make a quick and wise decision regarding these clearly false accusations, and depending on the results, the accuser who made the indiscriminate accusation will also be held accountable.

We have been responding in close communication with the composers from the beginning of the incident, and we would like to reiterate that we will jointly respond strongly to any indiscriminate accusations.

EDAM Entertainment and its artists will continue to do our best to repay fans with good music as much as they support and trust us. thank you
