TOMORROW X TOGETHER, 'first overseas artist' to top the Oricon chart with 8 albums in a row
The group TOMORROW X TOGETHER became the first foreign artist to top the Japanese Oricon chart with 8 albums in a row.
According to the latest chart released by Japan's Oricon on the 11th (as of July 17/counting period July 3-9), TOMORROW X TOGETHER's 2nd full-length Japanese album 'SWEET' sold 303,000 copies, making it the 'Weekly Album'. ranked #1.
Oricon said in an article posted on its official website that TXT is the first overseas artist to top the weekly album chart with 8 albums in a row. In January, with their 5th mini album 'The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION', they became the first overseas artist to top the weekly album chart with 7 consecutive albums.
With "SWEET," TOMORROW X TOGETHER also broke the record for the highest number of album sales in the first week of its release in Japan. Based on the Oricon chart, 'Name Chapter: TEMPTATION' sold 185,000 copies in the first week of release, but 'SWEET' sold 303,000 copies, about 1.6 times that of the previous work, setting a new record for TOMORROW X TOGETHER.
Right after its release, TXT's 'SWEET' went directly to No. 1 on the Oricon 'Daily Album Ranking' chart on July 4th, and kept the top spot for 6 consecutive days, and on Line Music, a major music source site, it ranked No. 1 on the Daily Album Chart on July 5th. It has entered the top and is maintaining the No. 1 spot for the fifth day.
