'The King and the Man' Surpasses 13 Million Viewers in Just 40 Days
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, 'The King and the Man' maintained its number one position at the box office on the 15th. It attracted 478,177 viewers on that day, bringing its cumulative audience to 13,467,844. This marks an increase of approximately 2 million viewers in just one week.
On the 6th, 'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to reach 10 million viewers. The film is set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo and tells the story of a village chief who exiles himself for the prosperity of the village and a young dethroned king in exile. The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.
In second place at the box office is the animation 'Hoppers' directed by Daniel Chong. 'Hoppers' attracted 75,920 viewers on the day, with a cumulative audience of 531,192.
'Hoppers' is a Pixar animal adventure where a girl named Mabel, transformed into a robot beaver through the 'hopping' technology that transfers human consciousness into animal robots, embarks on an unexpected adventure in the animal world.
In third place is 'Samakdo' directed by Chae Ki-jun, which gathered 13,360 viewers on the day, with a cumulative audience of 57,326. 'Samakdo' depicts the prophecy surrounding a cult that disappeared after the Japanese colonial period and the hell witnessed in a sealed village.
Other films in the top five include 'F1 The Movie' directed by Joseph Kosinski in fourth place, and 'Humint' directed by Ryu Seung-wan in fifth place.
