YooA Discusses Her Bold Role and Debut in 'Project Y'
On the 8th, a press conference for the film 'Project Y' was held at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Lee Hwan and actors Han So-hee, Jun Jong-seo, Kim Shin-rock, Jung Young-ju, Lee Jae-kyoon, Kim Sung-cheol, and YooA.
'Project Y' tells the story of Mi-seon and Do-kyung, who, while dreaming of a different future in the heart of a bustling city, find themselves on the edge of a cliff in life, stealing black money and gold bars.
YooA plays the role of Ha-kyung, the wife of a daring businessman who engages in bold escapades at night. Reflecting on her film debut, YooA expressed, "I was nervous as it was my first challenge in a movie."
YooA explained, "The script had some shocking lines. I wondered if I could really do it. The director said, 'Delivering such lines with style makes a great actor.' I perceived the swearing as a song. Since I don't usually use such language, it was hard to direct it at someone. I practiced the intonation like a melody and tried it on my co-actor." She added, "I felt sorry for my co-actor who had to hear my swearing, but through workshops, we got comfortable with it by exchanging insults." She hoped that this bold attempt would be a positive step in her career.
In the film, YooA's character is married to Kim Sung-cheol's character. Kim humorously remarked, "Thank you for calling us a couple, as it's hard to see us that way," referring to the abusive relationship depicted in the film. He recalled, "In one scene with YooA, she was already in makeup with fake blood. I had met her before in a music video, and I wondered if she was the same person. I approached the scene with a sense of guilt," he laughed. He added, "Though we discussed the backstory of our characters, it wasn't fully shown in the movie. I hope to work with her again someday." YooA responded, "Lying on the floor with fake blood, it felt real. His supportive gaze helped me. I'm grateful for the chemistry we managed to create, and I hope we get another chance to work together."
'Project Y' is set to release on the 21st.
