Rising Star Seo Soo-bin Shines in Yoon Ga-eun's 'The Owner of the World' at Toronto International Film Festival

The spotlight, however, is on Seo Soo-bin, who plays the protagonist Joo-in. Director Yoon Ga-eun is renowned for her talent in discovering and nurturing new actors, having previously introduced notable talents like Choi Soo-in in 'The World of Us.' Seo Soo-bin, with minimal acting experience, was selected through Yoon's unique audition and workshop process.
Director Yoon Ga-eun expressed her trust and affection for Seo Soo-bin, stating, "Seo Soo-bin was a newcomer with virtually no acting experience. During the extensive search for the right actor to play Joo-in, we conducted numerous meetings and improvisational workshops. The more I saw her, the more I felt, 'Ah, this is Joo-in,' and 'I'm meeting Joo-in in real life.' Her ability to react to the pace and rhythm of other actors in improvisational scenes convinced me that she was an already accomplished actor, despite her lack of experience, leaving no doubt in my mind about casting her."
Following the film's premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Seo Soo-bin received rave reviews: "Seo Soo-bin delivers an astonishing performance. Her future is unimaginable," "Seo Soo-bin's remarkable debut stands out as the best performance in any film released this year," and "Seo Soo-bin showcased the best acting at this year's festival with her debut."
'The Owner of the World' will be available in South Korean theaters this October.
