Ahn Hyo-seop's Captivating Transformation in 'Omniscient Reader' Unveiled

Ahn Hyo-seop's character stills from the movie 'Omniscient Reader' have been released, showcasing his role as Kim Dok-ja, the only person who knows the ending of a novel serialized for over a decade.

'Omniscient Reader' is a fantasy action film where the world of a novel, completed after more than ten years of serialization, becomes reality. Kim Dok-ja, the sole reader, teams up with the novel's protagonist, Yoo Joong-hyuk, and other allies to survive in a world on the brink of destruction.

Ahn Hyo-seop, a rising star known for his captivating performances in Netflix's 'A Time Called You' and dramas like 'Dr. Romantic 2, 3' and 'Business Proposal,' makes a powerful screen debut as Kim Dok-ja. The released stills depict Kim Dok-ja's transformation from an ordinary contract worker at a gaming company and the sole reader of 'Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World' to a resilient character in a world where the novel's events have become reality. The stills effectively portray Kim Dok-ja's multifaceted character, showing his growth as he navigates scenarios only he knows, using his knowledge to survive alongside his companions.

As the story unfolds, Kim Dok-ja, who cherished the novel for a decade, finds himself in a world mirroring the story he adored. He is the only one aware of the plot's progression, and his interactions with the novel's protagonist Yoo Joong-hyuk (played by Lee Min-ho), and allies Yoo Sang-ah (Chae Soo-bin), Lee Hyun-sung (Shin Seung-ho), Jung Hee-won (Nana), Lee Ji-hye (Ji Soo), and Lee Gil-young (Kwon Eun-sung) spark curiosity about the dynamics they will create.

Ahn Hyo-seop shared his approach to portraying Kim Dok-ja, stating, "I aimed to depict an ordinary Kim Dok-ja that everyone can relate to, and I wanted to show how everyone grows together with him." He added, "I spent a lot of time researching the character, engaging in extensive discussions with the director, and consistently practicing action scenes to perfect the role." Ahn meticulously crafted every aspect of Kim Dok-ja, from his appearance to his expressions, tone, and gaze, heightening anticipation for his fresh and spectacular journey on screen.

'Omniscient Reader' is set to hit theaters nationwide this July.
