Actress Lee Yoo-young Shares Her Experience on Joining 'Firefighters'
Actress Lee Yoo-young expressed her thoughts on participating in the film 'Firefighters'.
On the 25th, a press screening and media conference for the movie 'Firefighters' was held at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by director Kwak Kyung-taek and actors Joo Won, Yoo Jae-myung, Lee Yoo-young, Kim Min-jae, Oh Dae-hwan, and Jang Young-nam.
'Firefighters' depicts the story of firefighters who were deployed with the sole mission of extinguishing the fire and rescuing everyone during the tragic Hongje-dong fire incident in 2001, despite the harsh conditions.
Joo Won plays the role of Cheol-woong, a rookie firefighter at the Seobu Fire Station. Yoo Jae-myung portrays the rescue team leader, In-ki. Lee Yoo-young takes on the role of Seo-hee, a paramedic. Kim Min-jae appears as Yong-tae, a firefighter who loses his life at the Nokbeon-dong villa fire scene. Oh Dae-hwan plays the firefighter Hyo-jong, while Jang Young-nam is cast as Do-soon, the wife of the rescue team leader Jin-seop.
Lee Yoo-young shared, “Through the 'Firefighters' script, I learned more about this incident. Before the end credits, there is a documentary video, which is the only video footage available about the incident. I watched it countless times. I hoped this incident would become widely known, and I wanted to be part of Director Kwak's work.”
Given that the film is based on a true story, Lee Yoo-young added, “Knowing it actually happened makes it even more heartbreaking. Just hearing the sirens makes my heart sink. I can't even begin to imagine what the firefighters and their families must feel. I deeply respect them and sincerely hope such accidents never happen again.” She further expressed, “I am proud to have been part of such a film.”
