Director Yoo Jae-sun Discusses Future Projects at BIFF

On the morning of the 4th, the CJ Movie Forum was held at CGV Centum City in U-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan, during the 29th Busan International Film Festival.
Session 3 was themed 'The Power of K-Storytelling Captivating Hollywood,' featuring Go Kyung-beom, head of CJ ENM's film division, and directors Han Jun-hee, Jeon Go-woon, and Yoo Jae-sun.
Regarding the changes in the content industry, both past and present, Director Yoo stated, "Regardless of external changes in the industry, I aim to create works that I find interesting. If there's any influence, it's about how to engage the audience and make the work enjoyable from start to finish."
On the similarities and differences between established and emerging directors, Yoo commented, "Expressing what one wants through film is the same. The difference might be the subject matter. I believe every film forms a unique coordinate based on its era and generation. 'Sleep' also contains themes that align with my current era and age. In that sense, there might be significant differences."
Regarding his future plans, Yoo revealed, "I am diligently writing the script for my next project. One is a horror thriller similar in genre to 'Sleep.' The other is a romantic comedy, which is my favorite genre as an audience member. I am striving to create my own romantic comedy." He added, "I will work hard to create unique and new films so that audiences can come to theaters, contributing my part."
Director Yoo Jae-sun made his debut with the film 'Sleep' (2023).
