Inside Out 2 earned approximately $1 billion in global revenue
The animation film 'Inside Out 2' ranked first at the box office for 19 consecutive days, exceeding 5.6 million viewers.
According to the integrated movie theater ticket network, on June 30th, 'Inside Out 2' mobilized 412,553 people in one day. The cumulative audience number was 5,639,004. There are cautious predictions that it will not only surpass the record of 4.97 million viewers for its predecessor, 'Inside Out' (2015), but also surpass the record of 7,240,510 viewers for 'Elemental' (2023), the highest-grossing Pixar animation in Korea.
'Inside Out 2' attracted 190,000 viewers on the first day of its release, achieving the highest opening score of any domestic Pixar release ever. In addition, it surpassed 4 million viewers within 12 days of its release, making it one of the top 3 box office hits this year, following 'Pamyo' and 'Crime City 4'.
'Inside Out 2' is an animation film about the crisis and adventure that begins again when 13-year-old Riley's peaceful daily life is shattered as new unfamiliar emotions such as anxiety, embarrassment, boredom, and envy appear in the emotional control center in Riley's head.
‘Inside Out 2’ is showing its potential as a global box office hit in North America as well. According to Box Office Mojo estimates, 'Inside Out 2' recorded $57.4 million in North American box office revenue in the third weekend of its release, ranking first in the weekend box office for three consecutive weeks, and accumulated $469.3 million in North American box office revenue. It earned a cumulative global box office revenue of $1.0148 billion (approximately KRW 1.4019 trillion).
This figure exceeds the cumulative global box office revenue of the previous film 'Inside Out' of $858.85 million, and is the fastest record in the history of animated films. Additionally, 'Inside Out 2' is the highest-grossing film of the year and the only film to exceed $1 billion.
‘Handsome Guys’ and ‘Hijacking’ are competing for second and third place. The rankings were reversed from the previous day, and 'Handsome Guys' took second place that day. The number of daily viewers is 145,040 and the cumulative number of viewers is 458,887.
'Handsome Guys', starring Lee Sung-min and Lee Hee-jun, is a horror comedy that unfolds when Jae-pil and Sang-gu, who dreamed of living a peaceful country life, end up moving into a house that is haunted. The seat sales rate continues to rise steadily: 9.8% on the 27th, 12.5% on the 28th, 30.2% on the 29th, and 35.1% on the 30th.
‘Hijack 1971’ ranked 3rd. 132,658 people were added during the day, bringing the total to 1,087,552.
'Hijack 1971' is a work that depicts the extreme situation that occurred when a passenger plane was hijacked in the airspace of Korea in 1971. Ha Jung-woo, Yeo Jin-goo, Seong Dong-il, and Chae Soo-bin starred.
4th place was 'A Quiet Place: Day 1', and 5th place was 'Under the Sea: In Search of the Magic Coral Reef'.
As of 9 a.m. on July 1, the real-time reservation rate for 'Escape' was first at 30.8%. The second place in advance reservation rate is ‘Inside Out 2’ (26.8%), and the third place is ‘Handsome Guys’ (10.6%).
