Ha Jung-woo recalled the particularly difficult filming of 'Hijack 1971'

Ha Jung-woo revealed that he was fascinated by the narrative of the movie 'Hijack 1971'.

On the 22nd, a production briefing session for the movie 'Hijack 1971' was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park in Hangang-ro-dong, Seoul. Director Kim Seong-han and actors Ha Jung-woo, Yeo Jin-goo, Seong Dong-il, and Chae Soo-bin attended.

'Hijack 1971' is a film about the extreme situation that occurred when a passenger plane was hijacked in the airspace of Korea in 1971.

Ha Jung-woo played the role of Tae-in, a passenger aircraft co-pilot from the Air Force. Yeo Jin-goo played the role of Yong-dae, a passenger plane hijacker. Seong Dong-il played the role of passenger plane captain Gyu-sik. Chae Soo-bin appears as Ok-sun, a flight attendant.

Ha Jung-woo said, “I reconstructed it into a movie based on a true story. The power of the story was great. “The cinematic drama was the biggest factor in why I chose this scenario,” he said, explaining his reason for appearing.

Ha Jung-woo said, “I played many roles where I struggled, but among them, filming was the most difficult. It was also the most difficult character. While driving the plane, you must deal with what happens on board and comply with the hijacker's unreasonable demands. “I think it was 3 to 4 to 20 times more difficult than the previous works I’ve done.”

When asked if he understood the feelings of Tom Cruise, who is famous for his action scenes, Ha Jung-woo responded, “As an actor like Cruise, I always understand his feelings,” making everyone laugh. He continued, “We set up a set with an airplane and filmed each and every button of the airplane exactly as it was in real life, under the supervision of a professor. “I think that was the part I was more concerned about,” he said. Also, “There were parts that were difficult to capture even the slightest breathing in a small space and one frame, but there were parts that I was thankful for. “I felt a good sense of responsibility and worked with the main actors here,” he said.

'Hijack 1971' will be released on June 21st.
