Director Jang Jae-hyun told soldier Lee Do-hyun the news of the success of 'Exhuma'
Director Jang Jae-hyeon of 'Exhuma' announced that he plans to visit Lee Do-hyun, who is serving in the military.
On the 21st, I met Jang Jae-hyun, director of 'Exhuma', at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
'Exhuma' is an occult mystery film that tells the story of strange events that happen to a geomancer, undertaker, and shaman who receive a large amount of money to relocate a suspicious tomb. Choi Min-sik played the role of Sang-deok, a geomancer with 40 years of experience in finding and selling land in the eight provinces of Joseon. Yoo Hae-jin played the role of veteran undertaker Yeong-geun. Kim Go-eun played Hwarim, a shaman who appeases vengeful spirits. Lee Do-hyeon appears as Bong-gil, a shaman who is Hwarim's disciple. 'Exhuma', which was released on February 22nd, is expected to exceed 10 million viewers. In 'Exhuma', the character 'MZ Shaman', who breaks the existing mold, is also receiving favorable reviews from the audience. Kim Go-eun and Lee Do-hyun realistically expressed the sophisticated and charismatic MZ shaman character. Unlike Choi Min-sik and Yoo Hae-jin, who have experience in making 10 million movies, Kim Go-eun is about to make her first 10 million movie. Director Jang said, "Kim Go-eun also likes it. I think it's a reward for her hard work." He continued, "Not only Kim Go-eun, but also other actors said they want to be able to do something new, but the opportunity itself doesn't come often. I think it worked out well this time. I think what I was thirsting for has exploded with potential."
Director Jang also selected Kim Go-eun's 'Daesalgut scene' as a disappointing scene. The reason is that although Kim Go-eun did a good job, she could not include everything due to time constraints. Director Jang confessed, "Kim Go-eun did a good job, but I didn't have much time, so I think I was only able to capture half of what she did. It's one of the most disappointing scenes."
For Lee Do-hyun, 'Exhuma' is also his screen debut. However, because he is currently serving in the military, he is unable to participate in promotional activities. Accordingly, he expressed his gratitude to the audience through his social account. Director Jang said, "Nowadays, even in the military, it is possible to send text messages at set times. I sometimes tell them, 'How many people are in the audience?' and send photos of stage greetings. I heard that even in the military, everyone only talks about 'dispatch.' Even more than me. “He knew a lot,” he said. He said, "It's my screen debut and I'm receiving a lot of love, but it's a pity that I can't be with him. I'm planning to visit him sometime soon."
