Japanese master director Hirokazu Kore-eda introduced his new film ‘Monster’ as “a depiction of harm and harm that occurs without knowledge.”

On the afternoon of the 22nd, a press preview of the movie 'The Host' (directed by Hirokazu Koreeda) and a video press conference held by director Hirokazu Koreeda were held at CGV I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

On this day, director Hirokazu Koreeda was asked about the overall social stereotypes covered in the film, and said, "I think there are a lot of sexual problems in Japanese society. Basically, same-sex marriage is not yet recognized. At least the form of family, couple, and love is not recognized." “From a political and social perspective, I view it very narrowly,” he said.

He added, "I have no intention of criticizing the Japanese system itself through this film. I just hoped to make people realize the inner feelings of humans by showing them. I hoped to capture how many times the words 'man' and 'manly' are used. "The teacher says these things, but in fact, these words themselves are not said to hurt the other person. Because they are casual and seem natural, they are more oppressive and violent," he said.

Director Hirokazu Koreeda explained, "No one wants to harm, but they are being harmed. If there is a point that needs to be captured, I wanted to depict the pattern of harm and damage that occurs without knowledge."

'Monster' is a work about a mother who notices something strange about her son's behavior that has changed beyond recognition and goes to the school, where everyone around him who is involved in a mysterious incident goes through a whirlwind of emotions. It won the Best Screenplay Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. It will be released on the 29th.
