Director James Cameron has become the true box office king.

According to the American media outlet Variety, James Cameron's 'Titanic: 25th Anniversary' and 'Avatar: Waterways' (hereinafter referred to as 'Avatar 2') are ranked first in the global box office.

'Titanic', which returned to theaters for its 25th anniversary, earned $22.3 million at the global box office, and 'Avatar 2' added $25.8 million in just 9 weeks of release.

‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar 2’ are the third and fourth highest-grossing films in history, with ‘Titanic’ earning $2.217 billion and ‘Avatar 2’ currently recording $2.213 billion. In the future, 'Avatar 2' is expected to surpass 'Titanic' in the all-time box office rankings.

In particular, 'Titanic' earned $6.4 million at the North American box office and $15.9 million overseas over the weekend. The media commented, “Considering that it is a movie that debuted on the big screen 25 years ago and can still be seen at home, this is a significant turnout.”

‘Avatar 2’ earned $647 million in North America and $1.567 billion at the global box office within two months of its release. On a global basis, it is the third overseas film, following 'Avatar' in 2009 and 'Avengers: Endgame' in 2019. The sequel, 'Avatar 2', has earned $242 million in China to date.

In this way, Cameron directed three of the top four global box office films, including 'Avatar' in first place, 'Titanic' in third place, and 'Avatar 2' in fourth place. Second place goes to ‘Avengers: Entgame’.
