'The Moon' directors Seol Kyung-gu and Kim Yong-hwa finally fulfilled their special promise 17 years ago

Actor Seol Kyung-gu said he was happy to be able to keep his promise with director Kim Yong-hwa for the first time in 17 years.

On the 27th, at 11:00 am at CGV, I'Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul, a press conference for the movie 'The Moon' (director Kim Yong-hwa) was held, and the main actors, director Kim Yong-hwa, Seol Kyung-gu, Do Kyung-soo, and Kim Hee-ae attended.

'The Moon' is the story of a Korean space crew who left for lunar exploration who was stranded on the moon due to an unexpected accident, and the people remaining on Earth, including Jae-guk, the former head of the space center, fight fiercely to bring him back safely.

Actor Seol Kyung-gu, who celebrated his 30th year of debut this year, revealed an anecdote, saying that he was surprised by director Kim Yong-hwa's directing. He said, "(Director Kim) doesn't talk head-to-head, but talks 'tuk' as he passes by. There were times when it didn't work out well in emotional scenes. At that time, the director passed by and said, 'Let's think about reconciliation with someone', but he shook his head. I felt like I was hit once. The words I casually threw out helped me a lot," he said, expressing his gratitude.

Director Kim Yong-hwa said, "When I debuted in the movie 'Oh! No. As soon as I wrote the scenario this time, I contacted (Sol Kyung-gu) right away,” he revealed about casting. When Sol Kyung-gu was asked if he had waited for a promise for 17 years, he answered 'yes' without hesitation, drawing laughter.

'The Moon' is director Kim's first work in 5 years since 'Along with the Gods'. I am more nervous when I see it. At this moment, I think the only thing I can do well is sincerity. Let's hold onto it until the last moment and do our best."

Seol Kyung-gu, who worked with director Kim, said, "17 years doesn't feel like a very long time. I think director Kim is a curious director, from his debut film to 'Along with the Gods'. Familiar pictures like 'Gravity' and 'Interstellar'. It may look like, but I'm happy to be able to board with director Kim's curiosity. I have great curiosity and expectations about how he implemented it. I was very happy to work with the director," he said.

It will be released on the 2nd of August.
