Park Ha-sun Shines in 'Hongdo' as She Wraps Up Successful Seoul Run

Actress Park Ha-sun, married to actor Ryu Soo-young, has successfully concluded the Seoul run of the play 'Hongdo'.

The play 'Hongdo' is a modern reinterpretation of the 1930s classic melodrama 'Crying Over Love and Money'. It tells the tragic love story of Hongdo, who becomes a courtesan to support her brother's education, and Gwang-ho, a nobleman's son, exploring themes of sacrifice with a contemporary aesthetic.

Park Ha-sun took on the role of 'Hongdo', bringing the character's tragic fate to life with depth and nuance. Her delicate expressiveness and intense emotional portrayal built a solid narrative, while her witty lines and gestures added a touch of comedy, making the 100-minute performance engaging throughout.

Notably, Park demonstrated her powerful vocal projection, captivating the 1,000-seat theater without a microphone. She had previously shared that she learned a lot during rehearsals, even to the point of having chapped lips and nosebleeds. Her explosive energy in the play's climax conveyed Hongdo's deep sorrow and anguish to the audience.

Park Ha-sun previously received acclaim for her role as 'Sachi', the eldest daughter in the 2023 play 'Our Little Sister', which she reprised last year. With 'Hongdo', she showcased her strengthened acting skills and stage presence, expanding the fervor of the Seoul performances nationwide.

Park Ha-sun is set to tour across Korea, meeting audiences in Gwangju, Daegu, Ansan, Pohang, Busan, and Anseong from May to June.
