Choi Soo-young Takes the Stage in 'The Merchant of Venice' This Summer
Choi Soo-young has been cast in Park Company's production of Shakespeare's iconic comedy 'The Merchant of Venice'. This play marks another collaboration between Park Company and director Oh Kyung-taek, who previously made waves with 'Waiting for Godot'. The cast includes notable actors such as Shin Goo, Park Geun-hyung, Lee Seung-joo, Kai, Won Jin-ah, Kim Seul-gi, and Kim Ah-young.
In 'The Merchant of Venice', Choi Soo-young will portray Portia, the heiress of Belmont, known for her wit and intelligence. Portia is a pivotal character who not only drives the narrative with her romance with the Venetian noble Bassanio but also plays a crucial role in the courtroom, highlighting the play's central themes.
Choi Soo-young has built a solid acting repertoire across dramas and films. Recently, she received acclaim for her deepened acting skills in the Genie TV original drama 'Idol Idol' and is set to meet audiences again in the upcoming film 'Okay Madam 2'. With a dynamic cast spanning generations and genres, anticipation is high for Choi Soo-young's performance in 'The Merchant of Venice' as she returns to the stage after three years.
'The Merchant of Venice' will be performed at the National Theater's Haeoreum Grand Theater from July 8 to August 9.
