Musical Actress Kim Sun-young Reveals Surgery Scars from Last Year's Injury
Musical actress Kim Sun-young recently shared the story of her injury from last year, revealing prominent surgery scars that left a lasting impression.

On the morning of the 16th, Kim Sun-young, who is currently starring in the musical 'Lempicka,' met with the press at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Wearing a black long dress, Kim surprised the reporters by showing the vivid scars from her surgery while discussing her injury from last year.

Previously, during the 'Lempicka' press call on the 26th of last month, her husband, Kim Woo-hyung, mentioned, "Sun-young was injured at the end of last year, and her body is still not fully recovered. She is undergoing rehabilitation, and I am grateful to be by her side as both an actor and her husband." The couple, who married in 2012, are currently performing together in 'Lempicka.'

Kim Sun-young explained the circumstances of her injury, saying, "We call it the 12/12 incident." She was injured at home while preparing a snack for her son. She tripped over her shoes and fell to the floor. "I fell like a log while turning a corner," she recalled. "I hit the trash can so hard that the lid flew off. In those 1-2 minutes, I thought, 'Is this the end for me?' The shock was intense."

Kim added, "My right shoulder has always been weak, and my elbow was fractured in two places. I had to undergo emergency surgery, and the condition was worse than expected, requiring surgery inside the bone."

Her injury occurred shortly after completing the 'Lempicka' profile shoot. Some around her suggested it was fate for her to continue with the project. Kim shared, "I was told rehabilitation would take about six months, and I wondered if I could perform. I started rehearsals a few days after removing the cast, and until then, I only learned the movements."

She continued, "I was worried, but fortunately, I only needed to move my arm enough to hold a brush, so I decided to give it a try. I am still undergoing rehabilitation, and I believe I will be fully recovered by the time the show ends," she said with a smile.

Meanwhile, the musical 'Lempicka' is based on the true story of Tamara de Lempicka, a real-life figure who maintained her artistic identity amidst the turmoil of the Russian Revolution and World War. The show runs until June 21 at the COEX Artium in Seoul.
