Actor Song Il-gook Expresses Deep Affection for Musical 'The Hague'
Actor Song Il-gook has shown a special affection for musicals.

On the afternoon of the 8th, a press call for the musical 'The Hague' was held at NOL Uniplex 1 in Daehangno. The event was attended by producer Kim Tae-woo, director Park Ji-hye, and actors Song Il-gook, Oh Man-seok, Geum Jun-hyeon, Kang Seung-sik, and Lee Se-on.

'The Hague', which opened on the 1st, is based on the 'Hague Secret Emissary Affair' of 1907, just before the dark days of Korea's annexation by Japan. The musical adds imagination to the historical event by suggesting there were other emissaries assisting the leader, Lee Sang-seol, and re-examines their journey on the 120th anniversary of the mission.

Song Il-gook plays the role of Lee Sang-seol, the leader of the emissary group, in this production. His last drama was 'Jang Yeong-sil' in 2016, and his last film was 'Tattoo' in 2015. However, he has been consistently active in musicals since 2022. Regarding this, Song Il-gook commented, "It's a profession where you have to be chosen, and I wasn't chosen."

He added, "I am happy to be on stage. I am grateful to be continuously sought after for stage performances, and I am working hard with gratitude."

He also expressed humility by saying, "Singing is difficult, so it wasn't an easy choice. It was a challenge as an actor, and I am learning a lot from my juniors."

The musical 'The Hague' will run until June 21.
