While eating hongeo, Jung Sun-hee admitted, "I really couldn't eat hongeo in the past." Reflecting on her early career, she said, "Even now, but especially back then, individual tastes weren't respected. The preferences of a 21-year-old newcomer didn't matter."

Jung Sun-hee recalled, "My seniors all loved drinking," which led to her joining them for hongeo. She described the experience as "more primitive back then," recalling, "When you opened the pot, the ammonia would make your eyes water and your face tingle." She added, "I ate it at 21," and humorously noted, "They made me open the lid and eat it. Isn't that a form of hazing? Workplace harassment?"
