Actor Alan Ritchson Cleared of Assault Charges After Bodycam Footage Review
The Brentwood Police Department in Tennessee announced on the 25th (local time) that they had investigated the incident involving Alan Ritchson and Ronnie Taylor, which occurred on the 22nd, in cooperation with the local district attorney's office. They ultimately decided not to pursue criminal charges.
This decision acknowledges Ritchson's actions as self-defense. The police reviewed video evidence and witness statements. Although there was a discussion about applying charges against Taylor for his dangerous behavior, Ritchson expressed that he did not wish for Taylor to be prosecuted, leading to the case's closure.
Previously, Taylor claimed to have been assaulted by Ritchson. He alleged that Ritchson was speeding and making noise with his motorcycle, prompting Taylor to make an obscene gesture in protest, which led to a physical altercation where he was punched and kicked in the face.
Initially released footage showed Ritchson throwing punches near his children, drawing criticism. However, the release of bodycam footage changed the narrative, revealing that Taylor approached Ritchson on the street, instigating the confrontation and starting the physical fight.
Ritchson is known for his roles in the TV series 'Reacher' and the movie 'Fast & Furious: Ride or Die'.
