Musical 'Eyes of Dawn' Ends Early Amidst Financial Struggles; Cast and Crew Plan Joint Response
The musical 'Eyes of Dawn' has been prematurely concluded due to financial difficulties faced by the production company, prompting a joint response from the cast and crew.

On the 22nd, the production company NextSketch announced via their official social media that despite their best efforts to continue the show, unforeseen challenges led to the early termination of the musical on the 19th.

The company expressed regret over the difficulties caused to the actors, staff, and all involved parties, assuring that all ticket purchases will be fully refunded without any fees through the respective ticketing platforms.

According to industry sources, the situation arose when the show's run was extended beyond its original schedule. Some cast members raised concerns over unpaid wages, leading to tensions and a boycott by some performers, resulting in the cancellation of the scheduled performance on the 8th.

The performance on the 8th was intended to host 1,000 current and former firefighters and their families, an initiative proposed by lead actor Baek Sung-hyun. However, due to the production company's issues, the show was canceled without prior notice, causing confusion at the venue. The company later issued an apology, taking full responsibility.

Baek Sung-hyun also apologized on his social media, expressing deep regret to the invited firefighters and highlighting the structural issues between the production company and the actors that led to the difficult decisions made by his fellow performers.

A representative from Baek Sung-hyun's agency recently revealed to a media outlet that the performance on the 19th was also canceled on short notice by the production company, leaving the cast to return home from the venue.

With the show's early closure, the cast and crew are reportedly planning to release a statement addressing the breach of contract issues. Approximately 40 to 50 cast members and staff are expected to participate, with the possibility of a press conference being considered.

'Eyes of Dawn' is based on the MBC drama of the same name, which aired from 1989 to 1990 and achieved a peak viewership rating of 58.4%. The cast includes Baek Sung-hyun and former Jewelry member Park Jung-ah.
