Song explained that she had booked first-class tickets six months in advance to celebrate her son Dakota's birthday. However, on the day of the flight, the airline reassigned her children's seats to other passengers without prior notice. This left Brenda Song in the uncomfortable position of being separated from her young children. Her fiancé, actor Macaulay Culkin, shared the post, adding, "There's nothing scarier than Brenda's anger when she's been betrayed."

In response, Alaska Airlines issued an apology, stating, "This incident is completely unacceptable and does not align with the service we aim to provide." They further expressed, "We pride ourselves on being the best airline for family travelers. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused."
