Yoo Ji-tae Reveals Health Struggles During 'The King and the Clown' Filming
On the YouTube channel '[Preview] You Quiz on the Tube,' a video titled 'Yoo Ji-tae Becomes Han Myeong-hoe: Behind the Scenes of
Yoo Ji-tae humorously remarked, "Isn't it thanks to 'You Quiz' that 'The King and the Clown' reached ten million viewers?" He then shared his challenging experience during filming, attributing it to director Jang Hang-jun's lightheartedness, saying, "We needed to push seriously, but when they said, 'Yoo Ji-tae, the symbol of Korean cinema!' it just broke the mood."
Notably, Yoo Ji-tae revealed the secret behind his weight gain for the film, reaching over 100kg. He admitted, "I ate excessively," and confessed that the extreme weight gain led to health issues such as hyperlipidemia, acute gastritis, and colitis.
Directed by Jang Hang-jun, 'The King and the Clown' recently reached a cumulative audience of 14.75 million as of the 22nd, ranking third in box office history. Yoo Ji-tae earned the title of 'ten million actor' for the first time through this film.
