Actress Park Shin-hye Donates $100,000 to Support Single-Parent Families
On the 13th, Hope Friend GIA Plan, the first international relief and development NGO in Korea, announced, "Park Shin-hye, our ambassador, has donated 100 million KRW (approximately $100,000) as part of the 'Starlight Angel Project,' which she has been involved in with her global fans since 2012, to support single-parent families."
This donation was inspired by Park Shin-hye's role as Hong Geum-bo in the recently concluded tvN weekend drama 'Undercover Miss Hong.' Through her character, she empathized with the lives and challenges faced by single-parent families. The realistic concerns and responsibilities she encountered in the drama, through the characters Kim Mi-sook and Kim Bom, led her to focus on families in need.
GIA Plan intends to use this donation to provide practical assistance, such as living and childcare support, to single-parent families facing economic and emotional difficulties. The organization aims to alleviate the burden on single parents who must manage both childcare and livelihood, ensuring their children grow up in a stable environment.
Choi Chang-nam, the president of Hope Friend GIA Plan, commented, "Single-parent families often have to bear economic hardships as well as the burden of care and upbringing alone. We hope Park Shin-hye's warm gesture provides practical help to families in need and encourages our society to pay more attention to single-parent families."
Meanwhile, actress Park Shin-hye first connected with GIA Plan in 2011 and has been actively supporting marginalized groups both domestically and internationally as an ambassador. The 'Starlight Angel Project,' initiated in 2012, is a charitable initiative created by Park Shin-hye, her fan club Starlight Angel, her agency Salt Entertainment, GIA Plan, and fans worldwide to help children living in difficult circumstances.
