Actress Lee Sang-ah Shares Struggles of Running a Pet-Friendly Cafe Amid Legal Changes
On October 12, Lee posted on her Instagram, "The store is in chaos, and my hair keeps getting shorter..." along with a photo. In the image, Lee is seen with her pet dog, looking expressionless at the camera. She mentioned, "Fighting with my hair... and even with Dibo," referring to her pet, indicating her distress since the amendment of the law regarding pet-friendly dining establishments.
Earlier, on October 1, Lee shared CCTV footage from her cafe, showing a customer raising their voice and police arriving to listen to the customer's complaint. Lee explained, "The customer wasn't aware of the law change, and when they couldn't freely move around or let their kids roam, they naturally got upset."
As of that day, pets are legally allowed in dining establishments, but only if they are vaccinated dogs and cats. This has caused confusion for Lee, who runs a pet cafe.
Lee expressed her frustration, "There are many posts about the law change on social media, and unfortunately, some places are now prohibiting pets. In this era of increasing pet ownership, such legal changes are limiting spaces where pets can accompany their owners."
She further pleaded, "Please consider the differences between pet-friendly restaurants and pet cafes. Allow us the freedom to enjoy watching our kids play nearby."
Lee Sang-ah debuted in 1984 with the KBS drama 'TV Literature - Standing in the Temple' and has appeared in dramas like 'Love Blossoms', 'Perfect Love', and 'Three Days Promise', as well as films such as 'Tomboy Parade', 'No Regrets for Young Night', and 'School Report'.
