Recently, photos of Rael looking different from the past circulated online, sparking plastic surgery rumors. In response, Hong Jin-kyung clarified, "It's all editing. It's an app that reshapes the face, lifts the nose, and applies makeup. It makes her look like a Chinese beauty." She also shared before-and-after photos to dispel the rumors, joking, "Isn't this fraud?"

Meanwhile, Hong Jin-kyung, born in 1977, divorced last August after 22 years of marriage. She explained on Jung Sun-hee's YouTube channel, "It wasn't anyone's fault. We just decided to live differently."
